NCPR’s Research Projects of 2008
The NCPR is conducting three research projects in the field of Law & Political Sciences, Economics and Social Sciences in 2008. The topics were selected after consultation with governmental and non-governmental organizations, members of the parliament, civil society and other actors involved in making and implementing policies.
The projects timeframe is 6 months, it started on 15th of June 2008 and taking into account one month of break in Ramadan, it will be ended on 15th January 2009. The topics of the projects are:

1. “The Rule of Law in Afghanistan and how to improve it” related to the department of Law and Political Sciences
2. “Reconstruction of the Agriculture Sector in Afghanistan and its impact on the Afghan Economy” related to the department of Economics
3. “Social Criteria of Durable Peace and Security in Afghanistan” related to the department of Social Sciences
The projects are conducting by 10 expert lecturers and 12 excellent students of corresponding faculties of Kabul University under direct supervision of the NCPR’s departments.


Monograph Writing and Term Paper Presentation of the Educational Programs
The NCPR has an intention to launch the lessons in Monograph Writing and Presentation of Term Paper within the Educational Programs for the senior students in the faculties of Economics, Social Sciences, Theology, Language and Literature, Educational and Psychological Sciences. This program will last for ten days. Experienced professors will teach the students how to select their monograph topics, methods of writing monographs, methods of data collection, analysis of data and information, methods of presentation of findings in tables and through fingers, circles, bars and finally how a monograph should be written and presented in scientific manners and they will teach these types of scientific presentation of seminars.

GARF III Educational Program
The first part of the “Research Methodology in Social Research and Human Development Educational Program” for 40 lecturers from Kabul, Education, Polytechnic and Alberoni Universities and staff members of other organizations which had been started
on 29th of April and ended on the 24th of June 2008 at NCPR. This part of program which was taught by experienced professors included topics related to research methods in social sciences, types of data collection, the use of statistics in social science research on writing and presentation of scientific research reports. The second part of this program that includes human development studies, is being facilitated by foreign experts under the supervision of CPHD. This part of the program started on the 26th 2008. The participants during the third part of the program will work practically on research projects.

Peace Building and Textbook Writing Workshops for Lecturers of Afghanistan Universities
The NCPR intended to launch the Peace Building and Textbook Writing Workshops from the 10th -26th of August 2008 for 42 lectures of the Afghanistan Universities with close cooperation with Center for Policy and Human Development (CPHD) & financial support of United States International Institute of Peace
(USIP) at NCPR’s conference room.

Introduction of 2008 Manfred Wörner Awards Winners Research Projects
The 2008 Manfred Wörner Award Winners, who had been selected from Kabul University by joint cooperation of NATO Diplomacy Division and NCPR, started their work concerning the research projects which were already selected, after their returning from Young Atlantis Summit in Bucharest.
It is intended that 9 young lecturers and students (Manfred Wörner Award Winners) from Kabul University complete their research projects under the supervision of NCPR on October 1st 2008. These projects are as below:
Analysis of NATO Role in Afghanistan, Assessment of Civil Education Condition in Afghanistan, Gender Issues, Narcotic and Terrorism, Security Situation in Afghanistan, Mediation Amongst Ethnicities in Afghanistan, Role of Human Capital in Economic Development, Drug Awareness and Why Private Investment? Internal or Foreign.

Handing out the Certificates to GARF II Trainees
There were 75 trainees took part in the program. 11 trainees were lecturers of Kabul University and researchers of Academy of Sciences of Afghanistan, 63 were students of 7 Humanities Faculties of Kabul University and one was from Human Rights Independent Organization.
certificates of these trainees were distributed via a special ceremony held on 17 June 2008 at NCPR.

The NCPR published the following projects in June, 2008:

Obstacles in Afghanistan from the View Point of Lecturers of Kabul University, Researching the most Effective Causes of Running the Girls Away from Their Houses in Kabul, Micro Credit for Women and Its Impact on the Economical Activities of Households, Review of External Causes and Factors of Individual Steal Crime in the Second Half of 1385 in Kabul, The Role of Media in Diffusion of Luxurious Culture in Share Naw of Kabul, Analyze of Women’s Education and Employments Impact on Improvement of Families’ Economical Condition and The NCPR's Catalogue of Studies 2008.
The copies have been distributed to the different libraries of Kabul, the provinces and whoever is interested may buy these publications from NCPR.
