GERMAN-AFGHAN RESEARCH FORUM (GARF II)
29 April – 5 July 2007

The Center thus has planned to run a ten-week course in research methodology, for 75 trainees in two categories of Lecturers/Staff & Students. The Center already organized a similar 8 week training course in 2006 for 60 members of Kabul University’s lecturers and students with great success.

The program took 10 lecture weeks, started on 29th of April 2007 and ended on 4th of July 2007. Thus there were 40 teaching days in total; 4 sessions a week. The teaching carried out by six members from different faculties of Kabul University.
In order to achieve the objectives, a ten week course in research methodology was planned and devised for 75 members (Lecturers/Staff & Students) of the six Faculties at Kabul University: Law & Political Science, Economics, Social Science, Sharia, Journalism, Psychology and Educational Sciences, as well as the Academy of Sciences of Afghanistan. The first category (Lecturers/Staff) consisted of 36 persons from different faculties and organizations considered suitable by the appointed Coordinators, Faculties’ Deans, and heads of organizations. Suitability based on educational background and research experience. The other category of trainees consisted of 39 students from the six humanities Faculties of Kabul University. They were chosen from the top students of each Faculty.
As with GARF I, trainees were asked to submit a practical research project after the end of the teaching sessions. The projects are due to be submitted on 5 September 2007.

 
Upon successful completion of both the teaching and research project, trainees will be awarded Certificates of Appreciation.
